The Hermès Himalaya Retourné Kelly 28 is crafted from matte white crocodile leather and 18K white gold, set with 229 diamonds totaling 9.43 carats on the clasp and 40 diamonds (1.64 carats) on the Hermès clasp. The interior of the bag is made of ash gray goat leather.
Why is Hermes Himalaya Kelly so expensive? This is a painstaking method used to achieve gradation. It is not easy to dye crocodile skin – it takes a lot of time and effort to create a smoky gray color that turns into a pearly white snow color.
Due to the amount of work and time required to create the Hermès Himalaya, they can only be produced in limited quantities.
Kelly is the most classic Hermes handbag.
Originally used to attach a horse riding saddle, but gained popularity thanks to Grace Kelly.
When she was pregnant, she didn’t want to immediately announce her pregnancy in public, so the princess’ favorite Hermes bag helped her hide it.
This image became popular all over the world and was on the covers of many magazines. Kelly helped the bag become a status symbol among celebrities.
In the 1970s, Hermes officially changed the name of this handbag to the Kelly to commemorate this history.
