    In 1986, the author created three such “Rabbits” – two of them are kept in museums in Los Angeles and Chicago, and the third was in the private collection of the publisher Cy Newhouse for more than thirty years, who bought the sculpture in 1992 for $1 million.

    The artist was inspired by toys made of balloons. In the 1980s, Koons’ “Rabbits” gained unprecedented popularity and graced the covers of books, exhibition catalogs, and magazines.

    Art dealer Robert Mnuchin, father of US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, became the new owner of the famous sculpture.
